Faculty
Mahesh Mohan M R received his Ph.D from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Thereafter, he joined the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, US in April 2021 and was a postdoctoral researcher till July 2023. He joined the Centre of Excellence in AI, IIT Kharagpur as an Assistant Professor in August 2023. He leads the Signal Processing and Artificial Intelligence (SPAI) group at IIT-Kharagpur. His research interests include Computer Vision, Signal Processing, and Artificial Intelligence. He serves as a reviewer in various top-tier conferences and journals, and has publications in top tier venues including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, and TIP. His teaching subjects at IIT Kharagpur include Introduction to Data Science, Machine Learning Foundations and Application, Deep Learning Foundations and Applications, and Linear Algebra for AI and ML.

We are actively looking for research students to work with us. Self motivated, Ambitious and Keen students with a research interest towards signal processing or image processing or computer vision, or applied mathematics are welcome to join our SPAI group. We closely follow this philosophy: please read this.
We usually consider research projects that require long-term involvement (at least one year). BTP/MTP students from outside Core AI departments are typically selected from the pool of interns working with us sincerely for a substantial time (so as to get a good understanding about our projects, team, and working style), via an optimal decision based on bilateral matching. Apologies for not being able to individually respond to the numerous student emails enquiring about this.
